Nixa gets 'beast' of vehicle free from feds
June 10, 2014

NIXA, Mo. (AP) — A southwest Missouri police department has received what it calls a "beast of a vehicle" from the Defense Department.

Nixa police recently acquired for free a mine-resistant ambush protected — MRAP — vehicle. Officers will use the vehicle if there's an armed encounter in a public area in Nixa, a town of about 20,000 south of Springfield.

Nixa Lt. Joe Campbell says in a news release the vehicle "can best be described as a large beast of a vehicle."

The Springfield News-Leader reports (http://sgfnow.co/1qip29i ) the MRAP vehicles originally protected U.S. soldiers in combat. But with recent reductions in troops overseas, the Defense Department has made more than 7,000 ($7 billion 'worth') of the vehicles available to police departments.

I'd love to see a video of this bad boy out on Missouri roads, as well as how much it costs to fix the roads these bad boys travel on.

Why exactly does the military want to hand over such equipment to police? Are they expecting burglars and rapists to start deploying IEDs around the area before they commit robberies or rapes?

Is southwest Missouri a hotbed of Cliven Bundy followers?

Why does a dog lick its balls?

The DoD is trying to dump (literally) $7 billion dollars 'worth' of these onto police forces around the country. Either they do not have the money to store them or cut them up into razor blades.
