X-post: Wal-Mart plans to hire 100,000 veterans over five years

It's LBN, so there's a bit of the usual Vet hate in the thread.

Quite frankly, I can't think of a better way to thank veterans than by giving them low-wage, no-benefit, part-time jobs and grabbing up a $7000 tax break for each hire.

$7000 per hire in tax breaks
positive press for "supporting our troops"
get a chance to shitcan all the wage earners (i.e.: fulltimers and those who get more than minimum wage)

ETA: and yeah, 1600/month is a minimal wager when there are at least twice that many stores in the nation (and that's not including distribution centres, drivers, etc).

world, but no actual figures of how many in US, although, based on earlier figures, I am guessing upwards of 7,000 or so.

so, yeah, between the tax breaks and who they are going to screw over--sooooo not impressed.

besides, haven't I been reading that their sales figures are slipping (oh, wait, that would account for the need for the tax breaks, yes??)

have not set foot in a wal-mart in over 17 years, don't ever plan to.

They are a shitty company, paying shitty wages, with shitty benefits. Wal Mart has done more harm to the american worker than any other company out there. The only reason I would even go near a wally world is to watch it burn to the ground. They are pure evil.
