Persimmons !!

Ate my first two ripe persimmons of the season yesterday. Found them on a tree in a local park -- never knew it grew there before. Perfectly ripe, they almost fell off when I picked them. By the time I carried them home they were leaking juice. A quick rinse and mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm yummy!

There are a few very small scrawny trees in the same area and they hardly produced any fruit last year; this year they seem to have more. A couple of weeks ago I found another one in the area and now it seems to have more than the others combined. Something to look forward to !

Looks like the drought/heat wave here pretty well ruined the ones here--they are scrawny, hard, and bitter. They really don't taste very good.
