I got a letter from Medicare ???

Last edited Sat Jul 21, 2018, 05:05 PM - Edit history (1)

Got a letter in the mail today from my Blue Cross Medicare Advantage plan saying they have
reclassified my 'grievance' as an 'appeal' and begun the investigation.

I never filed a grievance or appeal. Wouldn't even know how.
Naturally they are closed until Monday A.M.

Will have to call again then.

Has anyone had a similar experience?
...................................

P.S. To clarify my post, I called them today, Saturday, but they are closed for the weekend.
I will call again on Monday.

"my Blue Cross Medicare Advantage plan"

"Medicare Advantage Plans are offered by private companies approved by Medicare.
Medicare pays these companies to cover your Medicare benefits.
If you join a Medicare Advantage Plan, the plan will provide all of your Medicare
Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) coverage."

As I stated, I have a Blue Cross Medicare Advantage plan.

edit. removing my initial post and editing this one. You were needlessly rude and I see no point in trying to help you as a result.

I face something analogous several years back. I got a check in the mail from the insurance I had then through the company I worked for. It was for $25.00, if I recall correctly, and I had no idea why I'd gotten it. It took a phone call or two, but I eventually learned that I'd been charged a co-pay some two years earlier when I'd broken an arm that I should not have been charged.

The insurance people were astonished that I didn't simply cash the check without asking questions. But I couldn't do that, not if it was something that shouldn't have been sent to me.

I do hope you bring us up to date when you find out what's going on.

Call the Customer Service number on your insurance card. If it is legitimate, they will have the information on any claim or grievance.
