Medicare D problem

When I went to pick up the medication that had been prescribed the pharmacist told me that it's not covered by my Medicare D provider (First Health) because it's a 'supplement', not a medication. And there's no way I can afford to buy it out of pocket.

Has anyone else run into this kind of thing? And can I find out if other providers hold the same opinion of such meds?

Perhaps your Dr. can find something close that is not considered a supplement?

Go to medicare.gov, put in your zip code and the medications you are on and you will be shown the plans which cover them. No plan will cover everything. Open season is coming in a month or so so you will be able in all probability to find a plan which suits you best.

if the dr. writes you a prescription for it you will not pay any tax applicable in your state.
