Could people in this group pls tell how you feel about white people posting here?

I've been wondering this a long time, and thot I should just ask.

Mostly I don't post, altho I just posted to Tobin's thread.
I don't know if Black people want a place where they can discuss without having to listen to white people.

If I were in a women's group, I really wouldn't want it to be open to men.
(not talking about here at du, I realize a DU group cannot be confined to people of one race or gender - but generally).

I did ask before I started posting but I only received a couple answers, which were it's okay as long as I am respectful. If I am offending by posting and/or responding, I will stop and delete what I have posted.

are highly supportive of feminism, women's equality, and are willing to adhere to the SOP, are and always have been welcome. Some of our most prolific posters in that safe haven group are men, actually. Just speaking to HOF and not to any other group, except it is probably not good to assume/generalize.

Two of our strongest supporters are gay men - and one happens to intersect being gay and Jewish!

HOF/Feminists - "get it"

I would also welcome Asians and Hispanics and Middle Easterners and Jews and Muslims because they don't have strong advocacy and groups at DU.

I welcome anyone who "gets" it.

I hope I'm not speaking out of school here in regards to Number23 . . . But she and I are both married to white men from oter countries. My husband is registered at DU even though he never posts.

I would think they would be as welcome back here - as again talking out of school - Kwassa is.

would not be a group without a wide range of opinions. I feel. Speaking just for myself I'm glad that lines are still open between sincere people willing to discuss what this country's corrupt, rich and powerful 1%, is doing to this democracy by turning it into their plutocracy. And how they are doing their best to keep the racial and political factions at each others throats while they go about dismantling democracy and enslaving us all to their political will and monetary system. Their money and influence pales into insignificance if ALL people start looking at the real enemy and demanding change based on that revealed knowledge. Damn glad you're here. Once true equality is gained in this society, if that's possible, questions like yours will become moot. No need........ Good query. on edit:I had to work the syntax. Big boo boo(with vs without)

I even welcome white people to engage in dialogue ... so long as they mind their manners.

Though I wish more would approach this group (and inter-racial discussions on race, in general) from a position of wanting to learn something from folks that have had a very different experience than they; rather than, "Here, let me show you how much I know."

I've been treated with patience and courtesy, even when I've made errors.

I read more than I post and have learned much.

and altho of course I do not know what it is like to be black,

since I'm not,

I do see things differently than almost every white person I know.
For instance, i know what it is like to have my loved one be late, and be worried that some cop or vigilante interfered with him.

I'm sure you see things differently than most white people too.

This person died suddenly just a short time ago, and even tho it's been decades since we were together, it was such a shock. He was such an important part of my life. I'm still trying to come to terms with his death.

I have no qualms about our true allies posting here.

But if people refuse to respect the spirit of this safe haven, I'd rather they'd post elsewhere.
