Frankly,, I'm surprised he didn't resist.
But to get back to your point......probably skin color had a lot to do with it. Just another example of racism.

Yes, they treated him like a human being, but yes he was a presumably dangerous suspect. I sure hope all precautions were taken.
And, no, I don't think it's very likely he would have received this treatment if he were not white. Pretty much anywhere in the US of A.
