I was in a discussion, when something hit me like a ton of bricks ...

I'm not seeing a whole lot of space between, Webb's comment:

I think that (Democrats) have kind of unwittingly used this group, white working males, as a whipping post for a lot of their policies ...

I really don't ... though I sure someone will be along, presently, to distinguish them for me.

All three are stating specifically who they believe they will (in HRC's case, would) need big turn-out from to win ... and they weren't talking about that coalition that put President Obama in the White House ... twice.

That might help Bernie's appeal to the Black electorate.

I don't think HRC, will be making the same mistake (i.e., going after the "hard working white" vote) this time around.

I don't care what Webb says.

I found a video narrated by Morgan Freeman, in which he informs us that the part of the Declaration which decried the institution as a moral crime, which was edited out by southerners. It was a powerful spiritual statement by Jefferson, a slave master, knowing he was a 'sinner.' But it didn't make it into the final document. Yet the framework was, tantalizing all future generations to change the world to something better.
But technology has nothing to do with equality if it is the substitute for self-awareness. It concentrates power into the hands of those who possess it, from the gun to the atomic bomb to the latest system of communications. Or let us say, more correctly, the owners of the technology, who can turn it on or off, make it available and socially liberating or use it as a tool of division, exclusion and demagoguery.

As far as 'humans do not seem to possss the ability to advance at the same rate', I cannot see this in the way that some have. There is an infinite potential in each individual, even those who surround them may not find it useful to their own purposes. As Morpheus' sig line says, 'I am human, nothing is alien to me.' IIRC. I pondered on it several times. It is a profound statement on the diversity of human ability and creativity and acceptance. One may think what another is into is a waste of time or stupid, but it illuminates others. We can't judge the ability of another in terms that advantage us, that is not their purpose on Earth.

If you are speaking of people's failure to 'advance' in their perception of Equality, from their spiritual core, to treat with reverence others, I do understand that. I've found practicing walking through a day in the spirit of Namaste is a great surprise at first, if one is determined to stay within their own place of comfort. But if one 'lets go' it is as profound as walking through the world considering the atomic bonds that compose matter. There are lot of empty spaces in an atom and a molecule that is held in place by attraction, and we can't figure that out without allowing the unknown to spark.

Going through the world that way is mind blowing. I think a few minds need that.

Just a few thoughts.

I have always been fascinated by the mountainous regions in Ecuador. In the mountains at the equator you can have temperatures of 70-75 degrees year round.....A friend of mine in Quito had sunflowers in her yard....since they grow year round, she described the stems as being like tree trunks.

The struggle for power between drug lords and the govt scares me in Mexico.

A friend of mine owns a plantation in Belize ... he told me the mosquitoes there can carry away a small child ... so that place is out ... I don't care what the commercials say ... I'm all about comfort.

And Mexico can be dangerous.

You should spend the summer with mom down south. She'll have you speaking Louisiana French by September. That and your culinary skills will improve 10 fold.

You'll have a much broader group of options when it comes time to relocate. Heaven forbid.

On edit: You're missing out on some amazing jazz as well.

Her husband served a couple of terms in Congress, then the district got reapportioned out and they made him a federal judge to make up for losing his seat.

Anyway, Mrs. Finnegan prided herself on her ability to speak French, though no one ever heard her. One day, my mother asked Mrs. F. "Voulez vous couchez avec moi?" Mrs. F. said "Oh, you speak French! We should have a conversation some time!" They never did, of course.

but yeah, he's bad news for sure. Scary is right. I have pledged to support the nominee, but that would be a really tough promise to keep. Thankfully I am certain I don't face that possibility.

and, it should be noted, she only started down that road when it was clear, Black folks were leaving her camp. I think that statement was dog whistling to put lipstick on the pig (I can say pig, can't I?)

On the other hand, it seems like the other candidates' starting point, though I suspect very different reasons ... One is "color-blinded" by ideology; the other, is just "blinded by color."

with Sanders i think a lot of it has to do with the state he is from. if he came from a more diverse state he would have more contact with people of color who would be his constituents and what their concerns are. and he would realize how important it is to discuss these issues apart from others .

Webb is just an ass and could be a future zell miller. although i think zell miller was a long time democrat and actually good on race issues before he turned into what we now know him as.

Webb and Hillary seem to be straight up LAMENTING the poor, downtrodden white male and alluding that they represent the hard working among us.

Because it contains within a DU pile on of such moronic, outlandish proportions that I'm hoping it will be ground zero the next time Skinner wields the ban hammer. I have never seen anything here like I have seen in that thread though not ONE PERSON in that pile on is a surprise. I've already got one foot out the door, and after seeing that my already minuscule desire to hang around just sunk that much more.

And in fact, I saw your post in there basically asking people if they had any idea how they looked and I was going to respond to you something like, "BJ, just back away" but that crap was so fucking ugly I didn't even want to do that.

I can't see piling on somebody like that who denied me a basic civil right, let alone all that screaming and hatefulness over being blocked from a group on a web site. Absolutely unfucking real.

for some reason it makes some people especially angry if certain groups support/don't support what they do.

i'm not even a fan of hers and prefer sanders himself to her. but when it comes to supporters of each on this site the one is really a turn off.

Skinner could show up to EarlG's house, moon his children and cuss out his neighbors not one of them still would have a leg to stand on to criticize. That mess was the most unnecessary, bizarre and mortifying thing I've ever seen here.
