Is it just me ...

or have we entered some alternate world where the first step in crafting a solution is denying reality?

Take the fiscal cliff discussions:

How many times have you read (even from many usually rational posters):

SS shouldn't even be open for discussion.

Okay, it shouldn't; but it is. Just saying it shouldn't be on the table, doesn't take it off the table when your opposition wants it there.

How many times have you read:

Chain CPI is bad because it harms the elderly, disabled and veterans.

Yes, it does (much less than the immediate effect going over the cliff will inflict on those same groups, I might add), but the other part of the deal that put Chained CPI on the table, also, had language to protect the elderly, disabled and veterans.

How many times have you heard:

If we don't get everything we want we should go over the cliff ... It won't hit that much.

Yes, it will. Maybe not the commenter, but it most certainly will hurt the unemployed, the homeless, the working class with kids, and just about every non-wealthy person that benefits from federal programming.

And my recent favorite:

We should go over the cliff to show the gop we won't be pushed around.

Ego makes for poor governance.

Okay ... I'm done ranting.

I have long since stopped caring what so many of these idiots think about anything this president does. In that way, I am very much a part of the American majority
