Ive been supporting Congresswoman Donna Edwards run for US Senate for some time now and I am so excited to know that shes leading in the polls, 38-28. She definitely deserves it; Donna has worked hard to take her message of supporting working families around the state, and she can be counted on in the Senate to be a progressive voice that stands firm in support of Social Security and Medicare, supports womens issues around pay, family leave and reproductive health and has the sensitivity as a black woman, to be concerned about the issues that affect our shrinking middle class, as well as those who are struggling in America.
Right now, her opponent is leading in fundraising ($4.1 million), and we have to turn that around. So I'm begging you to help make Donna Edwards the second ever black woman in the US Senate by donating a little something, or maybe more, and by sharing this page on Facebook or other social media.

Update: December 11
Well, some of Van Hollen's $5 million bought him 5 weeks of TV ads in Baltimore and the polls tipped, 43 to 31. That's the bad news.
The GOOD news is that EMILY'S List - the PAC for pro-choice Democratic women that convinced Edwards to run - has just donated $1 million worth of TV and radio ads for Donna aimed at Baltimore, one of the three big Democratic strongholds that Donna needs to win.

She may not be in most DU'ers state but even a $5 donation adds up.

(12,665 posts)It doesn't do much good to donate in my state so I try to help others. Plus, I read up on her and really like her.
(Hope I am not out of place for responding)

(6,150 posts)The Donna Edwards Baltimore Campaign Office opened on Saturday and I was invited to give a TWO MINUTE speech on why I support her. I went over. If the field director gestured frantically like she said she would, I didn't notice. In addition to the iPhone video linked here, it was taped by Fox 45, which is not slanted like Fox News and does a pretty good job of capturing a balanced view of Baltimore.
I have not figured out how to extract a Facebook video, or to upload from my computer, so this link may not work. Trying it anyway.
