Star Parker - How do we counter her polemic?

I saw her on C-Span this morning for the first time.

Make no mistake about it, this woman is hyper-smart. Dangerously smart.

But her message is 100% Tea Party Republicanism. Right to work and right to bear is her mantra.

I did a search this morning online about her and about her organization - Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE) to try to see who is funding her, but I found no exposé, no list of sponsors, nothing.

Who is funding her? Does she really have any support from the black community? If so, why? If not, why not?

I will withhold my opinion for the moment because I'm looking for input and information. All I'll say at the moment is that her message goes against my political position

Can anyone at DU educate me about this person?

1. Star Parker is a syndicated columnist

with a weekly column in the Washington Examiner. They often reprint her columns in my local paper, so I am quite aware of her opinions. If you want to learn more about her opinions, read some of her columns here.

Sorry to butt in on your group, since I am not African American, but when I saw her name, my stomach bunched up in a knot. I don't know how you counter her propaganda, but I would say that there are a lot of old white women who disgust me too. Every group of people has some who make you crazy when you hear their comments. I wish I knew more about who was funding her. But I don't believe that she has much support in the black community. I think that she is embraced by the white conservatives because they can point to her and say "see, black people do think like we do". I have no doubt that she is used by them....willingly.

Black conservatives tend to move up pretty fast in the GOP, due to their rarity...

5. Thanks. That's about as much as I've been able to surmise as well.

She's covered her tracks pretty carefully.

She is wicked smart. I'll grant her that.

3. I recognize her, and I agree that she's getting money from someone, somewhere.

She doesn't come from great wealth; she sounds like she's pissed off at the world and wants to make her parents pay. Ann Coulter with a deep tan!

Her website is a load of hate filled ("homosexual agenda" e.g.) nut-job horse shit. She loves Ted Cruz! She's anti-choice!

Don't click w/o a strong stomach: http://www.urbancure.org/

The term "self-loathing" comes to mind.

She's not paying for this on her own.
