Basically, if you're white, you have carte blanche to shoplift at CVS...

CVS Is Facing Multiple Lawsuits for Racial Profiling

The crime of "shopping while Black" isn't just a myth—at least not at CVS, according to several former employees of the pharmacy chain. On Tuesday, former CVS security guard Sheldon Thomas filed a discrimination lawsuit against the company in Brooklyn Federal Court. Thomas, whose primary role was to catch shoplifters, alleged that he was given explicit instructions to target Black and Hispanic shoppers.

Thomas, who is Black, reported that a supervisor told him, “When you catch the black people, lock them up,” and, “when you catch the Spanish people, lock them up,” according to the New York Daily News.

This isn't the first time CVS has been sued for racial discrimination—or the second.
During his year-and-five month tenure at the store, Thomas alleged that his supervisor referred to Black customers using the N-word, and habitually let white shoplifters go without arresting them. Sound familiar? Thomas's lawsuit came only a day after two other former CVS employees filed a discrimination suit in the Bronx Supreme Court. The chain also faced a federal discrimination suit from four former employees in 2015 for essentially the exact same reason.

“While there have been many high-profile shop-and-frisk cases filed by customers of large retailers in recent years,” David E. Gottlieb, the plaintiffs' lawyer, told the New York Times at the time the class-action lawsuit was filed, “this is the first time a group of employees has banded together to provide an inside account and expose the blatant racial profiling policy at one of the largest retailers in the world.”

Walgreen's was the worst because I was given instructions to do this it wasn't blatant. But, I get it it's 3pm and I am supposed to be watching youth with backpacks. Um no they just got out of school. So, long story short I refused to profile customers and I gave my boss the finger.

people came into the store, we might have been relaxing, but were called to service to watch their every move. BTW, no black person worked in the store. It was odd to me because I had recently left military service where no one was suspicious like that. We all worked together well. Looking back, the military worked well then. I don't know about now.

Clerk shrugged her shoulders. An alarm went off but no one did anything. She said this happens all the time.

A couple days later I stopped in the same CVS, a black man came in and I saw a clerk watch him intently and another shadowed him. He paid for his purchases and left.
I can confirm this policy firsthand.

we were told not to stop any one from leaving, and don't chase them- it might get you shot. We were also told to stay close to darker skinned folks, ask if they need help, etc, to "discourage" them from shoplifting

of doing wrong (genetics you know). Whereas all the other peoples just can't help themselves, they were born to lie and steal (and rape the white women) per Blazing Saddles. And you know how the bad the Asians are and the native Americans are. Don't get me started on the Irish. And those southern whites in their trailer homes.

Geez is this the 19th century or the 21st century. Anyplace doing that (like CVS) should have their policies outlined in black and white and posted. Once they looked at it they would freak out and seeing it in the open. It is some damn stupid.

who came up through the ranks. I know this went on in his store when he was just a small store manager. When I visit his wife from time to time, Faux News is on all the time on several teevees throughout the house. Needless to say, I try to get her to meet me someplace else. I don't know how she puts up with it.

I mean, the ones that clear thousands of dollars in a two minute heist at Macy's or Sears.

They send in white thieves.

Drug and gun runners know this too, less apocryphally: they send white mules now.
