It’s Time To Call Out ‘Nice Racists’ And Their White Fragility

I see this often in a wide range of contexts, and I think it is something that needs to continue to be part of the broader conversation on racism despite continuing resistance.

Racism isn’t always angry and mean. I’s subtle, mild and, at times, friendly. It was your boss in that interview who was amazed at how intellectual you were, so amazed that he even prolonged the interview with concerning inquiries and assumptions:

She has a way with words.

"We usually don’t call out our acquaintances and friends about their micro-aggressions towards us — probably because we know they’re fragile, and when we do correct them, there’s a large amount of white tears that fall and hit our shoes, shoes that are now soaked from the previous white person’s tears you just had a work meeting with. This should remind us of West Point's code of conduct:

"A cadet will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do."/i]

But, it seems that a very rigid definition of racism, limited to what the author identified as "the poster child" serves to perpetuate the harshest acts and attitudes by letting people who trade in bigotry without malice off the hook.

Something I took from Uncle Tom's Cabin was that the "nice" slave owners were instrumental in perpetuating the system and therefore enabling those who were cruel. As long as there was an exception to the rule, soft abolitionists would not rock the boat. Thus, it took a couple of centuries for that barbaric system to even be challenged.

I am over trying to be nice to them because we need their vote. If you make excuses for it you are part of the problem. Can't tell you how many friends on social media I've lost

why I limit my number of friends on social media. I don't feel like listening to every blowhard's stupid views, lol.

but sits silently in the corner and allows someone else to speak and act. This is the worst kind of nice racism-passive and hidden.

It still saddens me that I haven't seen many posts lately from my online friends 1 Strong Black Man & Number 23 & bravenak & Just Another Gen & Frenchie & others. They're real people to me & I grew so accustomed to coming here & hanging out with them. I miss them and if they're reading here: I hope you're doing well.

I too haven't posted much here as much. I just prefer reading & don't always have much to say. I wish we could have more conversations about whatever we want to talk about at any time. The atmosphere here in this group is very good. But probably like many others, I just grew tired of people trolling this group. And have grown wary of reading, let alone posting much on the rest of this site. Too many hard-headed blowhards & too many folks who seem completely insensitive to or ignorant of different types of people.

Any way, hope you're doing well my friend.
