irish twitter is insane.

during my brief absence from my home here, i started hanging on twitter more. it's been really interesting. dont let anyone tell you that those on the isle dont like their american cousins.
if u actually know your history, they accept u. i picked up several followers over there, including steven travers of miami show band fame.
this nonsense about the irish women footballers singing- up the ra- getting a lot of play today.
i'm finding it interesting, cuz it's the rebel songs i love the best. but i was told- dont sing the songs from the troubles, no one wants to hear it, and you're libel to start a fight. well, i see that's true, but then the same person asked me to sing both 'grace' and '4 green fields', both songs from the troubles.

about to go post this on twitter now, as it is a big fave of mine.

4. The Wearin' Of The Green

I met with Napper Tandy.
And he took me by the hand.
Saying: How is poor old Ireland?
And what way does she stand?
She’s the most distressful country,
That ever yet was seen.
They are hanging men and women,
For the wearing of the green.
: For the wearing of the green, :
My native land, I cannot stand,
For the wearing of the green.

2. My father loved you tenderly,
He lies within your breast.
While I, that would have died for you,
Must never so be blessed.
For laws, their cruel laws, have said,
That seas should roll between
Old Ireland and her faithful sons,
Who love to wear the green.
: For the wearing of the green, :
My native land, I cannot stand,
For the wearing of the green.
3. I care not for the Thistle,
And I care not for the Rose;
When bleak winds round us whistle,
Neither down nor crimson shows.
But like hope to him that’s friendless,
When no joy around is seen.
O’er our grave with love that’s endless,
Blooms our own immortal green.
: For the wearing of the green, :
My native land, I cannot stand,
For the wearing of the green.
