Locke and Key, the TV adaptation of Joe Hill's comic series of the same name, has officially been picked up by Netflix after Hulu decided to forego the project prior to green-lighting its first season.
As reported by Deadline, Netflix has secured a 10-episode order of the horror-fantasy drama. Though an initial pilot was shot and delivered to Hulu, that particular streaming service declined to air the pilot or sign off on a full season.
As we previously reported, Netflix won't use the already-made pilot, instead opting to hire an entirely new cast and director. Carlton Cuse and author Joe Hill will now redevelop the show for Netflix, starting from scratch.
Though Andy Muschietti directed the original pilot, he is currently busy shooting IT: Chapter 2. Muschietti has instead taken on an executive producer position, alongside Barbara Muschietti and Cuse. This new Netflix incarnation is being created by Hill and developed by Cuse, Aron Eli Coleite and Meredith Averill.
