I guess I said good-bye
umpteen hundred times,
so now I wonder exactly why
good-bye
is stuck behind my front teeth
somewhere &
I can’t get it out.

Maybe it’s just the whether,
like whether or not
someone rearranged the seasons
this year.
You always seemed to love me
in the summer
& it’s almost fall.
