waiting for the end of the world
the silence is overwhelming the darkness impenetrable
now every sense has been lost and is asleep in infinity
into the words of god delving amidst time interminable
constantly adding to the cost while losing all identity
there is a thickness unfelt dense and clustering closer
a taste barely eludes flavor and smell leaving no scent
chances needing to be dealt emotions seeking closure
expose secret sins to savor clinging to the sordid event
is there distant lightening followed by distant thunder
or has expectation dominated the surrounding reality
will the null be more frightening far beyond a wonder
even the gods have hesitated over deciding on finality
waiting for the end of the world making a last choice
to fall on scripture unfurled or to hope of love’s voice
