ticking clocks do not hesitate only go on stolidly
moments ignored or flouted do not differentiate
hunting heedless or contemplate time squalidly
whispered words shouted of the weak potentiate
time counted and added in an increasing detail
achievement measured in ever smaller fractions
the ends of bone padded the ends of nerves fail
a lack of pain treasured bodies go about actions
as then all falls apart the gears of the clocks chip
blood flows in fits and starts memories run away
hope turns to heaps of fears upon a sinking ship
maps become unsure charts concrete clad in clay
life begins to nestle down silence replaces breath
settles in the cold ground in acceptance of death
