A rant here because I can't rant anywhere else. Regarding the Star Wars Series "Ahsoka".

What drives me crazy? People spelling her name "Ashoka".

I can't fathom for a single moment why anyone would do that. the character of Ahsoka Tano debuted in the 2008 animated film "Star Wars: The Clone Wars", and became a regular in the TV animated series of the same name. She has also appeared in the animated series "Star Wars: Rebels" and also in the live action Disney Star Wars series "The Mandalorian" and "The Book Of Boba Fett".

In none of those screen appearances, at any time, has any character ever called her "Ashoka". In none of the official promotional materials has her name ever been spelled "Ashoka".

Why in the name of bleeding Jesus do people continue to insist on spelling her name "Ashoka"?

Fifteen years is a long time to continue to spell something incorrectly when the correct spelling is absolutely everywhere.

It’s as simple as that.

Although I would consider myself a big Star Wars fan, I wasn’t aware of the character of Ahsoka (which IOS wants to autocorrect to “Ashoka”) until the Mandolorian, so I guess I’m not as hard core as some folks (never got into the animated shows is probably why).

Hope your rant made you feel better so you can enjoy the new show, which premieres, IIRC, tomorrow.

I’m looking forward to it.

I see the "Ashoka" spelling everywhere on the Facebook Star Wars fan sites. And I can't say anything about it, because pointing it out makes me the bad guy.

I was also never a huge fan of the character until I saw Rosario Dawson's performance in "The Mandalorian".

I'm expecting good things tonight...

Especially given how so many people have a thing about spelling. If it corrects with a word that unusual, people not as secure in their spelling proficiency tend to think that they got it wrong, not the program.

Ashoka is a famous historical figure. If you're not paying attention when typing, and use auto-correct, then it's highly likely that the program will change "Ahsoka" to the more famous name.
