Giants first baseman Aubrey Huff has a sprained right knee and will "miss some time," according to manager Bruce Bochy, who wouldn't rule out a stint on the disabled list.
Huff tripped over the dugout railing and landed on his knee celebrating Matt Cains perfect game Wednesday at AT&T Park.
"Hes got a pretty good bruise in the right knee," Bochy said. "Its a sprained right knee, PCL they call it. So Im going to get with Brian [Sabean] now and see what were going to do."
Huff was seen using crutches before Thursday's series finale against the Houston Astros and was picked up by his wife after the game, not joining his teammates for the trip to the airport to start a nine-game road trip.

Weird. Huff has played little this year..but Bochy has been talking about maybe using him as a DH in AL parks. Now though, it doesn't look like that is going to be happening, and considering Aubrey is hitting only .155, it makes this injury look like a blessing in disguise.

(31,207 posts)and increase his mid-season trade value. He'll finish out his Giants' career on the bench instead.
Upton
(9,709 posts)and he should have more than enough money now. The Giants sure don't need him coming off another DL stint and taking up a roster spot. With the anxiety issues and everything else, perhaps he should give a thought to retiring mid season as a Giant. Similar to what Kerry Wood did with the Cubs..
It would be seen as an unselfish act. He could be honored, with everyone remembering and celebrating the 2010 Aubrey, instead of what we've seen over the last season and a half..

(31,207 posts)but, stranger things have happened. He'd be forfeiting a few million if he did.
A scenario I had in mind is that he did find his swing and Cleveland picked him up to add pop at first base and some playoff experience to the roster.
That unlikely occurrence aside, I agree that he did achieve his dream and can conclude his career knowing his efforts were crucial to the Giants winning the 2010 pennant.
