Another Bud $elig "Fuck You" to Baseball Fans

Sunday's playoff game between the Tigers and A's can only be viewed on MLB-TV -- an upper tier, premium pay cable channel. Fans in the respective Detroit / S.F. Bay Area can tune-in on radio (often a better bet anyway), but forget about TV unless you want to subscribe to watch a grand total of two playoff games. Bruce Jenkins of the S.F. Chronicle calls it "Highway Robbery" and writes:

Here's the real crime of it all: As you reluctantly buy into MLB's scam, you're allowed to watch the A's on Sunday and one other Division Series game to be determined. But before long it will be November, and the offseason, and you won't be watching the channel for at least four months. Nice investment.

Even if I were rich, I wouldn't bother with this such-a-deal.

The idea used to be the rich could shut out the masses by manufacturing caviar instead of fish sticks. These days, the idea is that the rich can rip off other rich people and shut out the masses by marketing fish sticks as caviar.

If this turns out to be profitable, then it is because the rich are no smarter than rest of us. So much for thoughts Ayn Rand.

No team owner should have ever been Commissioner.

Tommy Lasorda should have been Commissioner of Baseball.

No reason for that in the playoffs except to keep Detroit/Oakland off primetime. Fuckers.

I never heard of a sports league doing something like this, like NFL putting playoff games on NFL Network.

I listened to A's radio last night while watching a muted telecast. It's so much better, even when it's just radio alone.

TBS announcers are about as lame as Brent Muffburger.
