Jason Giambi interviews for Rockies' manager job

Given Robin Ventura's sucess with the White Sox and Mike Matheny's Cardinals on the verge of a World Series berth, the Rockies are intrigued by the idea of hiring a manager with no coaching experience.

They interviewed fan favorite Jason Giambi on Thursday, according to a club source, completing their meetings with in-house candidates.

Giambi, 41, has long been respected by the Rockies' front office, his opinion valued since he arrived in September of 2009 as a pinch-hitter and reserve first baseman.
