Scutaro and Giants agree on three-year deal..

Jeremy Affeldt, Angel Pagan and Marco Scutaro each told the Giants that they dearly hoped to re-sign with the club. The remarkable part: All three meant it.

In a baseball rarity this day and age, the Giants sought to bring back three in-demand free agents and knocked down the duckpin each time, after Scutaro accepted a three-year, $20 million offer late Tuesday night.

Scutaro’s deal is pending a physical. Pagan’s deal should be come official once he takes a physical on Friday in San Francisco.

The Giants have committed a total of $78 million to Affeldt, Pagan and Scutaro – not a whole lot more than the $60 million they gave to Aaron Rowand the last time these winter meetings were staged here at the ludicrously large and tacky Opryland Resort.

More great news. The World Series winning band is all back together..and the Giants will be taking straight aim at 3 out of 4. It's what baseball dynasties do.

Well, it worked before. I'd still like another power bat in the lineup.

They needs someone out there to at least platoon with Blanco. He's great defensively, but sure not an RBI man. Nick Swisher has said he'd like to play for the Giants...and he'd fit great in the their clubhouse. Problem is, he wants the kind of years and money that have prompted the Giants to say they're not interested, at least publicly.

I've read rumors, like Ryan Ludwick, Scott Hairston, even bringing Cody Ross back. We'll see. One thing for sure, I'm not questioning anything the Giants do player wise now. Not going to be complaining about Sabean ( did you see how he won Baseball America's Executive of the Year award?) giving away Zack Wheeler anymore either. I now have complete confidence in him. He's compiled a track record that speaks for itself.
