Related: About this forumThe NFL Statistical Year In Review
What a season it's been! We've seen pretty much everything, well, except the Lions and the Browns in the Super Bowl.
And now, a few of the year's statistical highlights:
Most ass fumbles, single game and season: M. Sanchez, NYJ, 1.
Not even the mighty NFL Films could have captured the moment better than this:
Most FG's honked in OT, single game, both teams: 2, SF vs. STL. The game ended in a tie, which allowed the Niners to escape with the division that they've owned for two solid years by a half game. Which matters because....
Most blown calls, season: Scab refs, 87,956,358. And the most infamous of these, but for the honked STL figgie above, would have given the Seahawks the tiebreaker over the Packers and the No. 2 seed in the NFC!
Most yards gained in feckless, futile effort, season: A. Peterson, MIN, 2,096. I mean, seriously, c'mon, Packers. I know you needed the win, but couldn't you just have draped someone over him and let him drag the guy ten or eleven yards, just to be safe, then tackle him, so that Eric Dick-Erson (who managed to play for SMU, the Ram-Its, AND the Dolts!) could have been consigned to the ash heap of history??!!
Most jerseys blown up by irate fan, season: T. Romo, DAL, 1. Need I say more?
Enjoy the playoffs!!

(44,576 posts)Every team that was ANY team in the NFL had at least one!
P.S. Regarding the Romo video -- isn't that a good way to earn a visit from the FBI?

(216 posts)That explosion was probably quite legal. The ATF & E considers Tannerite to not actually be an explosive. It is a binary chemical compound that individually are inert. When mixed and contained in a sealed jug, bottle, etc it can be detonated only by firing a high powered rifle round into it.
Pack enough in and you can create a pretty big explosion. You won't bring down a building but it can be dangerous. It is expensive enough to dissuade using too much at a time. Usually it is made into much smaller explosive targets for some rifle shoots.
As the individual components are not considered an explosive, it can be ordered online and shipped via UPS. It may restricted by some state laws, not sure. As it is legal in two states that I have seen it used in the NW. But, the FBI won't have much interest in it.
p.s. Go Seahawks!!!! All the way!!!!

(44,576 posts)Doesn't that constitute a threat? Someone did that to Obama and got a visit from the Secret Service.

(216 posts)I see what you're saying. But don't think they would see it that way. They are, and rightly so, hyper sensitive to any possible threats to President Obama. We know there are people that want him dead. Not so much the venting of irritated sports fans.

17-0 vs. SF. Failed 28-24.
