Saban: arrested Tide players suspended indefinitely

And there you have it. The king of college coaching has spoken.

In a statement released shortly after one was issued by his boss, Alabama head coach Nick Saban confirmed that the four players arrested Monday — running back Brent Calloway, linebacker Tyler Hayes, defensive lineman D.J. Pettway and defensive back Eddie Williams – have been indefinitely suspended. As was the case with athletic director Mal Moore‘s statement, however, Saban did not address their long-term future with the program.

The young men charged are indefinitely suspended as we continue to gather information and talk to the appropriate people. The University and football program have strict guidelines regarding issues of this magnitude. This behavior is unacceptable for any student-athlete at the University of Alabama and not representative of our football program.

Williams was charged with second-degree robbery and fraudulent use of a credit/debit card as the result of two separate incidents that allegedly involved the beating and robbing of two UA students. Hayes and Pettway were charged with second-degree robbery, while Calloway was charged with fraudulent use of a credit/debit card.

The robbery charges the three are facing are felonies.

Thank God these are only felonies and not fictious girlfriends!

Not to sound like an apologetic homer like you are but Te'o was a well known player who swept the top defensive awards, finished second in Heisman voting, and was nearly destined (before that ass kicking by that one overrated team on Jan. 7) to be a top 15 draft pick, those Bama criminals are not starters and they didn't see any significant playing time, so the disparity in media coverage isn't a surprise...I do have to say that I am glad that they didn't rape anyone...Good thing that they will be kicked off of the team unlike Notre Dame.
