Barry Sanders expected to commit to Stanford...

Heritage Hall standout Barry J. Sanders is expected to commit to Stanford on Saturday at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

A source close to Sanders told The Oklahoman they are “confident he will announce Stanford” as his college choice Saturday in San Antonio.

Sanders, the Heritage Hall running back who holds offers from dozens of NCAA Division I schools, narrowed his list of potential colleges to Alabama, Florida State, OSU and Stanford months ago.

But in December, Heritage Hall coach Andy Bogert said Stanford and OSU were Sanders' top two choices, and in that order.

And yes, this is the son of the Hall of Fame running back...

Not only did I not need to google to make sense of what they were saying, but that damn Vanilla Ice song started an earworm that took 2 hours to nuke.

And no one else on the thread got the reference.

Whats next, Peyton Manning's grandkids are starting a charity in his honor?

vertical.

Quite a few youtube videos of him and a really great interview on how his dad pretty much lets him do his thing without input, unless he asks.

as the #1 RB coming out of Oklahoma and 8th best in the country. If Sanders does indeed commit to Stanford, it's a great catch for them..

As I once heard an announcer say during a college game, "If he's looking for his jock strap, he left it on twenty-third yard line!"

Heritage Hall is a rather exclusive private school in OKC. High tuition and high academic expectations

15. Because Barry Jr is an elite/upper income student

because of his Dad's efforts. Stanford, academically is just more rigorous that OSU.
All you have to do is look at the test scores required for each to figure that out.
So, maybe Jr wants to achieve more that just athletics.

Now, before OSU fans bite my head off... there are many areas where OSU excels.
Perhaps Barry Jr isn't interested in those areas or he may just want to get away from
Oklahoma for other reasons.

Heritage Hall running back Barry Sanders, Jr. made it official Saturday, announcing his commitment to play football for the Stanford Cardinal at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.

The top recruit in the state said it came down between the Cardinal and the Oklahoma State Cowboys, the team his father won a Heisman Trophy with more than 20 years ago. Sanders said he chose Stanford over the Cowboys because he wanted to make his own name, while getting an education from one of the top schools in the nation.

In his four years with the Chargers, he carried the ball 403 times for 3,825 yards and 55 touchdowns, including two seasons with more than 1,200 yards and 1,136 in an injury-shortened junior season.

I have no doubt he will make his own name. He sounds just like his dad when he talks.
