I mean, seriously, war paint??!!
But now that they're closing in on ruining a second hockey season in four years , maybe it's time that changed. Although it would be tough to take away the history of one of the Original Six.

Besides, it's only one game. This series is as evenly matched as any I've seen in quite some time.

(32,086 posts)There was a Chief Black Hawk. The original owner of the team owner named his team after his WWI machine gun battalion. They named their unit in honor of Chief Black Hawk, and the owner thought it fitting for his team, too. Hardly "racist", IMO.

(78,249 posts)these days. In fact, the "Washington Wizards" came about because the owner thought "Bullets" was too violent. (It belonged with their former city, Baltimore, anyway; it came from a movie called "The Baltimore Bullet".)
