Somehow one team has managed to escape the discussion about racist team names and logos

I mean, seriously, war paint??!!

But now that they're closing in on ruining a second hockey season in four years , maybe it's time that changed. Although it would be tough to take away the history of one of the Original Six.

There is nothing racist about paying homage to the Blackhawk tribe. Nothing wrong with war paint either. Get a grip.

Besides, it's only one game. This series is as evenly matched as any I've seen in quite some time.

There was a Chief Black Hawk. The original owner of the team owner named his team after his WWI machine gun battalion. They named their unit in honor of Chief Black Hawk, and the owner thought it fitting for his team, too. Hardly "racist", IMO.

these days. In fact, the "Washington Wizards" came about because the owner thought "Bullets" was too violent. (It belonged with their former city, Baltimore, anyway; it came from a movie called "The Baltimore Bullet".)

(you must admit, it does look an awful lot like what's on the side of Washington football helmets) the battalion was the first thing that came to mind. That's an interesting little factoid of which I was unaware. But, no.

The Six Nations native I work with everyday - guess what his favourite team is?

He considers it an homage or a tribute. Yes, I've asked...
