CBSSports.com
Despite his ripe old age, Jason Giambi is proving to be a valuable offseason acquisition for the Tribe.
At 42 years old, Jason Giambi became the oldest player in major-league history to belt a walk-off home run when he crushed a 1-1 pitch to the foliage in center field to give the Indians a 3-2 victory over the White Sox on Monday night.
Giambi was 42 years, 202 days old Monday -- 45 days older than Hank Aaron when he set the record in 1976. Giambi's blast, his ninth career walk-off homer, launched the Indians to their fifth straight victory.
The veteran, hitting just .194, pinch-hit for the struggling Mark Reynolds, but his timely shot earned him the gratitude of his teammates and a bath from a freezing bucket of water.
