Because of the Sunday prime time telecast between The Red Sox and the Yankees, Boston opted to travel six hours cross-country today -- Monday -- to San Francisco, where they will face the Giants tonight.
The Sox/Yankees game ended at 12:19 am, Monday morning, EST. Normally, the Sunday start would be at 1:00 pm, which would allow the team to get into the Bay Area by about 10 pm PST -- assuring a normal night's sleep.
Travel cross-country on game days is rare.
Lester vs. Lincecum. Let's see how resilient these Red Sox are.

Lots of people are working thankless jobs today.
From Boston's perspective, they will be taking the field at 10 pm. For a game that requires total physical and mental focus, that's asking lot, and worth pointing out in the Sports Group.

(10,893 posts)was the only person getting sick of all the Yankees-Red Sox games on national TV. Apparently some of the players are, too. Every time these 2 teams play each other, ESPN is sure to air at least one game from the series. It's crazy!

(12,336 posts)You most certainly are not the only one who is sick of the Eastern Seaboard Programming Network and MLB shoving the Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies (who suck), and to a lesser extent, the Braves down our throats all the time. I have gone so far as to contact ESPN and MLB about it. It didn't work, but it felt good.
