As a Pats fan, I am not as disheartened by last night's game as the "experts" think I should be...

They looked bad, no doubt about it, but chalk it up to inexperience, IMHO, largely. There is a lot of room for improvement, and with a weak division, they can do it and win and not get disheartened. The next few weeks will tell.

If I were a Jits fn, I'd be morose. Geno has talent, no intelligence, you could chalk that up to him being a rookie, but he's such a sh*t I can't see him ever truly developing. The real problem, though, is Sexy Rexy, who sucks big time, and as long as he is the head coach, look forward to 7-9 seasons...even in this weak division.

Sometimes a team is going to turn in a sloppy performance, its just the way it is.

I never put much stock in the idea when a player/coach insults a team, that will fire up the other team to the point they play better (especially something as creative as She-Hawks) but if there is bulletin board material that gets teams to play better it is definitely the Jets. They have more than enough, power rankings had them as the worst team to start the year and really don't see that. Not sure who the worst team is but I think Jacksonville has the worst starting QB.

If Sanchez had played, I dare say the Jets probably would have won. Can't believe I wrote that but I don't see how he couldn't. Bad as he is, he's better than Smith at this stage.

And given the troubles the Patsies had against the hapless Bills in the opener, that's two games in a row they struggled against what would normally be viewed as an inferior opponent.

Apart from Edelman and Amendola, the Pats have NO ONE at WR. They couldn't get a running game going either. I think the main problem is that Belicheat bought into his own hype. He had a nice run at late-round draft gems and convinced himself he was a genius at identifying talent. He's had way more misses than hits now for several drafts and it shows bigtime.

He's known for fixing problems, and as I said, this is going to be a weak division...they won't be getting disheartened by losses mounting up.

Letting go of talented players, drafting new ones that can't perform at a high level, etc.

Being in a weak division doesn't help much - if the Pats somehow manage to win it (and Miami might just give them a decent fight it looks like), they'll be clobbered in the wildcard round.

It's a long season...I'm waiting a few weeks to see how some of the guys develop...also, since they are young, they're hungry, which is always a good sign...one of the more important ones, IMHO.

"If Sanchez had played, I dare say the Jets probably would have won".

I didn't see anything from Sanchez last year that would lead me to believe that Sanchez would have made a difference. If anything, Smith's mobility last night was a bigger asset to the Jets than Sanchez's "experience".

We're a lucky 2-0, insofar as we basically got two extra pre-season games thanks to our terrible division. We will improve...but until we do, we're going to get thrashed by the first half-competent team we face.

The Patriots will win a bunch of games this year because their division is horrid, but they won't win the Super Bowl. They haven't been able to hit on draft picks, their defense is still awful, and they don't have quality receivers (the two good ones are major injury risks).

The team won't really be defined until after the Atlanta, Cincinnati, Saints stretch. There's a decent chance they lose 2 or even all 3 of those games. If they do, their chances in the playoffs are pretty slim.

That said, it was fun watching Tom Brady throw a temper tantrum like he's a toddler not getting his way. It's a refreshing change from watching him stomp his feet for a penalty any time somebody touches him.
