The College Football Playoff selection committee will have some star power as former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will join former NFL quarterback Archie Manning and USC athletic director Pat Haden on the panel, sources told ESPN on Friday.
The 58-year-old Rice, who has made no secret of being a college and pro sports fan, will be included on the 12-to-18-member committee when it is officially announced next month as expected.
In addition, former Big East commissioner Mike Tranghese, athletic directors Barry Alvarez (Wisconsin), Jeff Long (Arkansas), Oliver Luck (West Virginia) and Dan Radakovich (Clemson), and former NCAA executive vice president Tom Jernstedt have been chosen to be on the College Football Playoff selection committee, sources told ESPN.
Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Gould, the former Air Force Academy superintendent, also will be on the committee, sources told The Associated Press.

I would have kept the BCS and put teams #1-#4 in the tournament. Now this may be worse than the BCS.

These aren't likely all the names but in addition to Condoleezza Rice is:
Archie Manning
Earlier Friday, McMurphy reported that former Big East commissioner Mike Tranghese will be added to the committee. It previously was reported that USC AD Pat Haden, West Virginia AD Oliver Luck, Clemson AD Dan Radakovich and Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez would be on the playoff committee. He also reported that Arkansas AD Jeff Long and former NCAA executive vice president Tom Jernstedt will be on the committee.

Hancock said factors in choosing the teams will include record, strength of schedule, conference championships, and factors that might have influenced a team's play, such as injuries and weather.
