Be afraid. Be very afraid. The New Orleans Pelicans have unveeiled their mascot.

In the days ahead of the New Orleans Pelicans' first basketball game since changing their name from the Hornets, fans wondered what the team's new mascot would look like.

The Pelicans answered those questions when they hosted the Pacers in their season opener Wednesday night.

Meet Pierre the Pelican.






Pierre joins Boudreaux of the Triple-A Zephyrs in NOLA mascot infamy. Boudreaux is a nutria.



Looks like NOLA is to mascots what Miami is to outfield sculptures.
