"Ron Burgundy's scheduled Thurs. appearance on @SportsCenter has been cancelled in light of the potential implications of any news from the State Attorney's press conference in Fla.," ESPN's director of communications David Scott wrote on Twitter. Although Scott wrote yesterday that there was no make-up date for Burgundy, a SportsCenter anchor said this on the air morning that Ferrell would bring his character to the show sometime next week.
Ferrell was scheduled to appear on the show today alongside his Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues cohort, David Koechner, who plays the Channel 4 News team's sports reporter, Champ Kind.

Only in Will Ferrell's mind has the fleeting Anchorman thing transcended its original 12-month viability. Really...we're supposed to be all psyched for the sequel of a C-movie that came out 9 (nine!) years ago?? Have these producers not noticed what has become---a quickening decline---of the national attention span? Seriously...it's way over, a niche thing at best.
Frankly, my only favorite part of "Anchorman" was the 5 minutes of alley-brawl between pipe-smoking PBS crew and the others. Honestly, I wouldn't even bother with the first flick for free, and cannot imagine spending fourteen of my 2013 dollars on a sequel. Really, Will Ferrell...really? There are words and phrases and concepts for old dudes who can't quite tell that time has passed them by. SAD gets the conversation started.
The only winner in this whole endeavor might be Ferrell's agent, as long as he's flat-fee-ing and not taking points on the movie's sales.
EDITED to add: in all honestly and completely without irony, I did also enjoy the jazz-flute part and forgot to say so in my orig. post. Because I like the flute in almost any kinda music.
