1. ESPN article - Source: Raiders fire Hue Jackson

The Oakland Raiders fired coach Hue Jackson on Tuesday, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The Raiders have scheduled a news conference for 5 p.m. ET.

When reached by CSNBayArea.com, an angry Jackson said, &quot New Raiders general manager McKenzie) is going to gut this place."

"He wants to bring in his own guys. No job is safe right now," Jackson told the website.

McKenzie will be introduced Tuesday. He becomes the first Raiders executive to hold the title of GM, and sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen on Monday that McKenzie was contemplating whether he should bring in his own coach, despite the fact he shared the same agent (Kennard McGuire) as Jackson.

Hugh Jackson sealed his fate in several ways:

First, the way in which he assumed control right after Al Davis' death. It was, as I heard one pundit say it, "Alexander Haig-like" ... not (front office) team oriented.

Second, the Raiders late game defensive meltdowns and record setting penalties. As head coach you make adjustments to fix things like that.

Third, the way he dressed down his players after the season -- the biggest mistake of all.

Al Davis does not still live. In fact, McKenzie buried the legacy even deeper.

that's over four decades of one man's football philosophy when you think of it. Way overdue. The more I think about it the better it is for the Raiders and the NFL.

One edit: Make that five decades!!! 1962-2012.

Put Richard Seymour on the market. And/or Sebastian Janikowski. And/or Heyward-Bey. Somebody just might be dumb enough to trade a draft choice. CLEAN HOUSE!
