Worst. Pickoff Throw. Ever.

Hilarious video at link. He almost beaned an ump!

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/edward-mujica-makes-perhaps-wildest-pickoff-throw-ever-040028875.html

This happened in the sixth inning Saturday night at Fenway Park before Boston Red Sox right-hander Edward Mujica even threw a pitch. With Rajai Davis of the Detroit Tigers leading off second, Mujica whirled and tried a pickoff throw, but his attempt was so wild, it sailed perhaps 10-12 feet to the right. It was nowhere near second baseman Dustin Pedroia and almost at the head of umpire Hunter Wendelstedt, who was getting into position to make a call at the bag. Wendelstedt ducked to safety and even Pedroia ducked in empathy.

Mujica was charged with an error, Davis moved to third base and scored a few pitches later on Ian Kinsler's sacrifice fly for the final run in Detroit's 6-2 victory.

Other errant throws have been higher. Many have been thrown in the dirt. But has a pitcher ever been further off the mark on a pickoff attempt than Mujica? The bases are 90 feet apart, Edward, not 75.

If it's any consolation, I just spent a couple of weeks watching Yankee baseball with Republican Stepdad, which wasn't much better.

Does not watch Fox or televangelists. Does not appear to be a racist. Is a bit of a 'phobe, though, and for many years refused to take Mom to France, on the grounds that they should have joined us in the Iraq war as payback for us joining WWII. Srsly.

On my way back from Spain a few years back some guy was bitching about how ungrateful Spain was after we bailed them out during WWII...um, Spain managed to stay out of it.
