Texas DC Vance Bedford is not a fan of alternate uniforms, calls them 'clown suits'

When Texas beat Texas Tech last week, the Red Raiders were wearing their alternate Lone Star Pride uniforms which had helmets and sleeves that were a takeoff of the Texas state flag.

Texas defensive coordinator Vance Bedford, a Texas alum, was asked about his thoughts on alternate uniforms for the Longhorns on Wednesday. It's pretty safe to say we can put him in the "no" column if there's a vote on Texas wearing alternates in the near future.

You’re asking the wrong person because that’s absolutely, 100 percent no," Bedford said. It’s the University of Texas. I mean, a uniform is going to make you a player? When we wear that white, I think that’s as pretty as any uniform out there. You can put all the clown suits on everybody else, all the different color helmets, who are they? When the University of Texas walks out of there with that helmet and that uniform, you know who they are. The respect in my opinion is there. When you look at USC’s uniform, you know who they are. You look at Notre Dame, you know who they are."

Anybody else watching Keith Olberman's afternoon sports show these days? What's with the God-awful outfits he's wearing, now? Back when he was talking politics on TV, he was always very well dressed; now he looks like he glows in the dark. Is it part of his present contract that he has to look so goofy?

And Keith needs to return to political commentary. We need all the angry, well-spoken liberal commentary we can get, after those horrible mid-terms.

It seems that in the Big 12, only UT and OU have not messed with their uniforms. But I remember that for last year's Red River Rivalry they added a little bit of gold trim.
