Kobe Bryant Could Set Record For Most Missed Shots Tuesday

Los Angeles Lakers’ guard Kobe Bryant has made a lot of shots in his career.
He’s missed a lot as well.

In fact, with 13 misses in Tuesday night’s game between the Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies, Bryant will break the NBA record for most shots missed in a career. Former Boston Celtics‘ great John Havlicek has the NBA record of 13,417 missed shots.

This record would be so Kobe Bryant. He is perhaps the least shy player in the history of basketball in terms of taking – and often making – difficult shots. He is one of the hardest-working athletes in the history of sports. He’s also supremely confident, believing he can make any shot he takes, which has led to Bryant taking more than his fair of bad shots. In fact, it’s hard to imagine a player has taken more bad shots than Bryant.

As good as he’s been, he’s a career 45.3% shooter from the field, 33.5% shooter from beyond the arc and 83.7% shooter from the free throw line.

Just a funny statistic. I was always a fan of Hondo growing up!

How many times during the career of the guys on this list were they double teamed? How many times were they hammered and hacked while trying to get off a shot?

This list makes perfect sense to me.

While i love Steve Kerr, it was easy for him to make half of his shots because a lot of time the nearest defender was 10 feet away.

Without digging any deeper, i would guess guys like Bird and West and Shaq and Hakeem would be somewhere high on that list too.
