A Brief Physics and Logistics Lesson for the Haters Who Can't See Straight

What advantage does a deflated football give you?

It is easier to grip, but also will not travel as far, so trying to throw long puts you at a disadvantage. A softer ball also helps with kicking, and John Hairball noticed and his kickers noticed that the balls used for kicking a week earlier seemed softer, and they chalked that up to the weather...and guess what, neither team has possession of those balls at any time. Never. The balls used for kicking are held by the officials at all times. Hairball said they noticed nothing about the other balls. Besides, more inflation makes for longer throws...so that's why Aaron Rodgers overinflates his. Tom likes his underiunflated so they inflate at the absolute minimum and guess what, the absolute minimum is still legal.

Can weather affect the inflation, yes, and while some I noticeed are complaining that the weather was in the 50's so weather wasn't a factor, that's an interesting rewrite of history...it varied from 40 to low 50's, not cold, but yes, it will affect the balls, as will the actual play, such as spiking the balls. But surely not 2 pounds! Were all the balls two pounds less? No, at least one was, but again, creative lack of reasoning led the haters to assume all were that deflated, which, makes the plausibility of tampering with the footballs even more ludicrous because the person would have to have the time to deflate them equally, in plain sight. And this leads us to...

Logistics...how could they have tampered with the balls? Simple, the haters say, enabled by the nitwits in the media, just take a pin out. Well, considering that the Colts were wary of something from their first thrashing by the Patriots, they would have been watching them closely, don't you think? Oh wait, you don't think, that's why this is a manufactured controversy. Besides, the former head of NFL Operations says that can't be done...I'll listen to him over some tool on ESPN.

Ok, now you're foaming at the mouth. But, but, but, Bilicheat! Cheatriots! They ALWAYS cheat! Always. They had Spygate in 2007...jump ahead to 2015 and there's this...but, but, but, how DARE YOU deny me my consitutional right to jump immediately from Point A to Point G? I say they always cheat and facts be damned. Let's not forget the Broncos had a more recent version of Spygate, their one controversy like the Pats, and no one says they always cheat...why?

Because this non-controversy fits in with the storyline a lot of sports writers and haters want to think about the Patriots for whatever reason. For ESPN it's about filling dead air,a nd let's face it, Bill is not all warm and cuddly. For others? Well, I have my theories, but I don't want to be banned. All this morning reading the stupidity here and even in GD irritated me...now I'm very amused. If the Pats win in a week and a half, it's a legitimate victory, like all their others. If the Seahawks win, then they were the better team this year...end of story.

Oh, you can reply, but I'm done with this and won't be checking back.

The main reason Josh McDaniels was fired by the Broncos was because of his taping scandal.

Do you think the Patriots would ever fire Bilichick? Hell no, they rehired McDaniels!

8. Nation Can’t Wait To Hear Patriots Fans’ Excuses This Time

WASHINGTON—After an NFL investigation revealed that 11 of New England’s 12 game balls were under-inflated during last weekend’s AFC Championship Game, Americans across the nation announced Wednesday that they would love—absolutely love—to hear the excuses from Patriots fans this time. “No, no, by all means, go ahead,” said every single person living outside of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Rhode Island, and Connecticut before reportedly smiling and adding, “I’m all ears.” “Wait, let me guess: The deflated footballs were also easier to catch for the Colts defense, so the Patriots didn’t have a real advantage, right? Or is it that the score was so lopsided that it didn’t matter in the end? No, seriously, I’m sure you guys have something really great cooked up for this one.” The American populace went on to say that they also absolutely cannot wait to hear how this new scandal will have no effect on the legacy of Tom Brady.

The arguments I see from Pats fans on this matter are 1) it doesn't really help 2) Just jealous haters 3) everyone does it!
now where have I heard these arguments before? Barry Bonds and the Giants fans? Funny isn't it. Winning makes everything all right ..Someone else said it elsewhere , cheating is okay as long as it's your team! Man, could you imagine if Snyder was accused of this? Ahh, I love the smell of hypocrisy in the sports forum

Then why do it? Of all the crazy excuses, if it doesn't help, what's the point? Just to have this blow up as another cheating scandal?

No, with 11 of 12 footballs deflated, it must have been done for a reason.

less energy transfer than with a wooden bat

but a player occasionally gets caught red handed though I haven't heard of one for awhile so maybe they wised up.

The football thing makes sense, less weight means it doesn't travel as far, this is common sense. Grip is everything for a QB and loosen it up some to get it within his comfort range and also the ball is easier to catch too. I used to be good at catching but around that 40-50 degree weather it becomes a rock and often jams or breaks your fingers - I have the fingers to prove it.

If it doesn't help, then why do it??

Oh and if it was the weather - why weren't the Indy "balls" deflated??

This team has been caught again. Hopefully the NFL does something about it this time. They did do something with the Saints over bounty-gate. This is cheating - AGAIN!!

Makes you wonder - can this team even win without cheating?? Who knows?? They are probably always cheating. Sorry Cheatriot fans!

Obviously the Colts were playing in different weather conditions. Oh wait.

Just admit to yourself that your coach, your team is nothing but cheaters. The genius Belichick and Tom Terrific have to resort to cheating.

But to claim that the only reason that the media is following on this is that Belichick isn't nice to the media is an absolute joke. The media has for years fawned over how great he is and how he pays attention to all the details that others don't. Well some of those details like spying on other teams and underinflating the footballs are blatantly illegal.

Everybody does it? Don't care.
Not that much of an advantage? Don't care.
They would have won anyway? Don't care.

They straight up cheated and got caught...twice!!!

Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's just a fucking game, right? Well then play by the fucking rules.
