Former homeless Baylor walkon ruled ineligible by NCAA
A once homeless walkon running back at Baylor has been ruled ineligible by the NCAA because he accepted living expenses from a friend. And his higher profile Bears teammates have taken to Twitter to voice their disapproval.
Silas Nacita, who grew up in California and once played for Cornell, posted on Twitter Wednesday that he can no longer play football because he allowed a close family friend to pay for his room and board. Before the friend stepped in, Nacita said, hed been sleeping on floors and couches of other friends. He had academic scholarships to attend school, but no financial aid for other expenses.
Baylor athletic director Ian McCaw confirmed that Nacita no longer is with the team.
Silas Nacita will not be a part of the football program moving forward due to rules violations that impact his eligibility. We appreciate his contributions to Baylor football and wish him well as he completes his studies.
