(15,223 posts)Like he said, though, we'll see what the horse(s) are really made of!
I have to be at an event on Saturday afternoon and won't get to see the race live. I'll be dying to know the results!!! I'm going to ask a couple of friends to text me.

(15,223 posts)And he was still advancing at the end of the Derby, so with the length of the Belmont, he just might do it!
Hard to gauge this year with SO many talents racing!

(10,115 posts)and now I have my least favorite race of the three with the favorite looking like he should win again. Not worth throwing out the favorite with a short field but AP will get less than even odds, I think. Hmmmmm.... I think i will wait for The Belmont to bet.

(1,608 posts)....if tomorrow the track comes up sloppy from the predicted rain the two winners of the sloppiest Preaknesses have been Maryland based horses, Bee Bee Bee and Disputed Testimony. Anybody wanna back Bodhisattva?

(29,686 posts)32 whips on American Pharoah??? Randy Moss thinks they should change that. I don't know much about this topic. What about it twogunsid?

(1,608 posts)Are more padded and a lot of what Victor was doing was just fanning the whip to try to rouse AP. But, really, I don't know shit. I thought AP looked like a tired horse in the Derby. He looked like a Boss, today.

....the '73 Belmont is a cultural touchstone. A perfect 12 clip for 12 furlongs for a final time of 2:24 flat. We'll never see anything like that again.
I don't know if he can do it. American Pharoah is the 14th horse to have a shot at the TC since Affirmed won it in 1978. I would love to see him do it. But, now, it is up to the Racing Gods. I wish AP and his connections the very best of luck. And if he can't come home 1st in the Belmont, at least I want him to come home safe.

(1,608 posts)Owned by the Phipps' Family and trained by Shug. He is a grandson of the great grey, Spectacular Bid. The greatest horse, I believe, to ever look through a bridle. I had hopes for him making a TC run last year but it was not to be. Glad to see him back at the races and winning.
