1957 Heisman Trophy winner John David Crow passed away last night, A&M officials confirm

Texas A&M football legend John David Crow died Wednesday evening.

The former longtime A&M athletic director who had an 11-year career with the NFL before coaching both professional and college teams passed away peacefully with his wife, Carolyn, by his side, along with other family members, A&M officials said.

Services are pending for the 1957 Heisman Trophy winner, who would have celebrated his 80th birthday July 9.

A native of Louisiana, Crow was a junior when he led the Springhill High Lumberjacks to the 1952 Class A state championship. When it came time to pick a college, he selected A&M over LSU and Oklahoma.
