Related: About this forumAmish or Big XII champ? We may be headed for another heated playoff debate
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/notre-dame-or-big-12-champ--we-could-be-headed-for-another-heated-playoff-debate-044317796-ncaaf.htmlWe are trending toward a most interesting College Football Playoff debate: Notre Dame or the Big 12 champion?
Now, that debate presumes three things: Clemson wins out, Alabama wins out and the Big Ten produces an undefeated champion either Ohio State or Iowa. If those things all happen, the fourth position in the bracket could well be the Fighting Irish vs. the conference the playoff rejected last year....
These are the two most likely to vie with Notre Dame for a potential fourth spot. If the Cowboys win out and finish 12-0 taking down TCU, Baylor and Oklahoma in the process they could be tough to deny. If the Sooners win out, its a battle royale of perception, prestige and P.R. between a pair of blueblood programs.
If everyone holds serve in the top three, its going to be a huge debate (between Notre Dame and the Big 12), ESPN lead analyst Kirk Herbstreit told me at the United Center on Tuesday night. If Oklahoma State wins out, they may go by (the Fighting Irish). If its Oklahoma, who to me looked as good as anybody last week, thatll become the debate.

(56,177 posts)1. And this is why the nitwits constructed a 4-team playoff...
Because 8 makes sense...#5 can complain and have a legitimate gripe, #9 can't...and as long as there's complaining...more interest, more money.

(16,113 posts)3. The best thing, long term, for the XII is to get fucked on this.
They need to add another 2 quality teams to get their conference championship back and end their annual circle jerk where they can't pick a clear winner. None of this is going to happen as long as their 5th best team is sucking up half the revenue. It's time they got their shit together and maybe having 4 quality teams all miss out on the BCS playoff will give them the kick in the ass they need.
