Knicks forward Cleanthony Early robbed, shot outside club

New York Knicks forward Cleanthony Early was robbed and shot in the leg in Queens early Wednesday morning, according to multiple reports.

He was leaving CityScapes gentlemen's club on 58th Street in Maspeth, Queens, when he was surrounded by up to six men, shot in the knee and robbed of a gold necklace and the gold caps from his teeth, New York Police told WABC-TV.

Early, 24, was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition.

"We are aware of what occurred with Cleanthony Early this morning and are relieved that he is not in a life-threatening situation," the Knicks said in a statement. "We will not comment any further until we receive more information."

Early is in his second season with the Knicks after being drafted in the second round out of Wichita State. He has played in 10 games this season, averaging less than a point per game.

Early is a native of Middletown, New York.

They shot him in the knee (career threatening, no doubt) and stole the gold caps off his teeth!

I know these are young guys and all. But, there have to be night spots where the environment is more subdued. Does it matter if you're drinking Dom in a different building?

Attention is obviously on the women and so the players don't have to deal with the public attention.

They go there because they're young and have plenty of spending money. Besides, if one goes to a strip club and orders Dom (not saying he did, but we know that happens with rich young athletes, if only because they tweeted it), it's not like you're trying to hide.

And, most of these guys have been getting LOTS of attention since they were 10 because of how good they were at their sport. Very few don't know how to get over it.

Doesn't mean they want to have people co.ing up to them at all times. For example people go up to celebrities in the bathroom.

I also didn't say they go to hide, merely not be the center of attention. At a strip club it's my understanding most people are looking at the strippers (personally I've never been to a strip club so I'm assuming on that). If a celebrity wanted to be the center of attention why not go to a dance club where they would be the center of attention?

11. Same Reason Most Men Go to Strip Clubs

Male athletes go to strip clubs for the same reason most men go to strip clubs; to see scantily clad women dance around a pole and maybe have sex with those scantily clad women. I would think if you are a male celebrity, especially a sports celebrity, you would not go to a place where men who like sports hang out. It seems there would be more attention on them at a strip club in that most of the people there probably like sports and know most of the men playing professional sports.
