He just said that he will sign with the Warriors
He better get a ton of shit just like LeBron did in 2010. Heck more.
The Heat were last in the Finals in 2006. The Warriors just went back to back.
Guess KD is just chasing a title now . . .

"Kevin Durant is joining the Golden State Warriors.
Saying it has been "by far the most challenging few weeks in my professional life," Durant announced Monday his decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder in a post on The Players' Tribune.
Durant is expected to sign a two-year, $54.3 million contract, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein. The deal would include a player option after the first year."

(9,527 posts)But I think it's a little different than in James's case. Oklahoma City wasn't effectively his hometown and Durant didn't hold a big press conference interview to do it (and yes, I know that James was using that to raise money for a charity).

(7,429 posts)It's all Durant's Decision Everywhere
They even broke into Wimbledon coverage to give the "Breaking News"
And it was all day yesterday with the promotion of "We will be here when Kevin Durant makes his decision"

(65,044 posts)Yeah, it was all over SC and the talking head shows, but i don't think it's quite the same.

(29,322 posts)Between lebron revealing his choice on tv to durant leaking his to a reporter. The surge of interest is about the same, particularly since he met with GS.

(65,044 posts)And the coverage by ESPN, which was the topic, wasn't directly controlled by KD. LBJ directly controlled that affair when he made his decision.
Durant didn't have to orchestrate anything. With the salary cap explosion and with him being the best player in free agency, the coverage was going to be huge. The dollar values are staggering and he's the prime prize. He didn't have to arrange any special coverage.
Lebron did. That makes it very different IMO.

(29,322 posts)Idea of a show to lebron. The same thing said in the second paragraph applies to the same situation lebron was in.

(285 posts)through the playoffs. I give Lebron and the Cavs a lot of credit for winning the championship. With that said, the Warriors broke a new NBA record for most games won in a single season, and will win another title in 2017

(285 posts)He has played for the same team for over 10 yrs now without winning a ring. What's more, you failed to acknowledge Warriors winning the 2015 NBA Championship. Dont be a hater, just suck it up and get over it.

(41,692 posts)The Patriots were 16 and one.
Key thingy...both lost the thing that matters most. No one cares about 2nd place.

(285 posts)Again, you slammed the 2015 NBA Champs " GoldenState Warriors" who made it to the Finals this season, though they came up short. Tell me, why would any NBA star pass up a chance to join an NBA Team, Like the "Warriors," who WON the 2015 NBA Championship, and broke the NBA single season record for most games won this season. With all due respect, you are not getting the big picture. Mr Durant wants a "damn ring". 9 years after playing for an NBA team who has never won an NBA Championship, it's time to move on. Like you posted, 2nd place dont mean shit. So, like Mr Durant figured out, if you cant beat them, join them!

(41,692 posts)I could give a rats ass about 2015. Tell me about 2016.
He's joining a team who just chocked the 2016 finals.
c588415
(285 posts)You posted, "why would he join a team that choked?" And I explained to you why Durant decided to join the 2015 NBA champion Golden State Warriors. I believe I mentioned that they broke the record for most games won in a single season. Bottom line, Durant wants a " Ring", why cant you comprehend that? truemadman, it's all good

(41,692 posts)You did mention they broke the record for games won in a single season---the 2016 season. Now remind me who won the championship that year?

(285 posts)returning to the 2016 Finals. truemut I hope to see you around for the 2017 NBA season to watch my " Warriors" annihilate their competition. You seem like a nice person, so I wont laugh at you for being misinformed.
This will be my last post on this topic.

1975 is another title the GS Warriors won with Jon Barry.

(24,461 posts)What a joke.
Guy rips LeBron in 2010 for going to a first-round exit team with only Wade and a bench to make it better . . . and then performs a colossal easy-way-out move by going to a 73 win team with 3 All Stars. WEAKsauce, son.
I say bring it on. Pressure's all on GSW, not Cleveland. Cleveland isn't supposed to win titles; that's for large markets, right? A stacked deck doesn't equal instant championships. You still have to play the game, have chemistry, make shots, defend and have a bench, which just got weaker with this move.
hughee99
(16,113 posts)Which means next year will basically be a free agent season. Will Durant be able to keep his numbers up? Will there be enough basketballs on the court to satisfy everyone in the lineup?
He's joining a ready-made team that went to the finals the last two years and only lost 9 games last year. The expectations are so high on Golden State that the BEST they can hope for is to live up to them, and even if they do, I don't think Durant will be seen as the difference maker.
If GS doesn't win it all next year, this signing will be seen as a mistake on both GS and Durant's part. That's a lot of pressure.
