Related: About this forumSanta Clara police union may boycott 49ers games over Kaepernick
http://www.mercurynews.com/49ers-stadium/ci_30323681/The Santa Clara police union says its officers may stop working San Francisco 49ers' home games amid quarterback Colin Kaepernick's decision to protest police brutality and racial injustice by refusing to stand during the national anthem, according to media reports.
A letter from the Santa Clara Police Officers' Association to the team, obtained by NBC Bay Area news, said if the team does not take action against Kaepernick for his actions, which also include wearing socks that depict officers as pigs, "it could result in police officers choosing not to work at your facilities."
The letter also said "the board of directors of the Santa Clara Police Officers' Association has a duty to protect its members and work to make all of their working environments free of harassing behavior."...
The letter from the union runs counter to a statement recently issued by the Santa Clara Police Department, which said its officers "will continue to provide a high level of service at all stadium events to ensure the safety of the fans, players and referees."

Don't want to work in Santa Clara? Fine. San Jose next door has over 300 vacancies. Just sayin'.

If they don't have security at the stadium, I don't believe they can play the game.

Charles James wears all sorts of crazy socks in practice, I don't think there's any guidelines for the NFL over what kind of socks to wear in practice unless they make a rule.

The whole protest is about police insensitivity to social justice, so they threaten the public.

It's not part of their official duties. It's something they do for extra money. You can't really force people to work overtime.

Then again, I was handling mail at one of the big processing facilities; we weren't union like the carriers.

The NFL will hold police families hostage at gunpoint before they let them cancel a Monday night football game.
