Cleveland fans rewarded Ryan Merritt's ALCS start by buying him gifts off his wedding registry
Despite pitching 4 1/3 shutout innings for the Indians in their 3-0 win in pennant-clinching ALCS Game 5 (while having just a single career start under his belt) Ryan Merritt did not win the ALCS MVP Award. That went to Andrew Miller and his 14 strikeouts over 7 2/3 innings in the series. Merritt, however, will not go unrewarded for his boot-shaking effort.
Indians fans found what appears to be Merritt's wedding registry during the game and, accordingly, went bananas fulfilling it. So, Merritt and his fiancée Sarah no longer have to worry about whether they're going to get the muffin tins, waffle maker and ironing board they wanted.
Clearly, Indians fans really appreciated his performance and rewarded him as such.
Merritt was as surprised about this development as you might expect, as he didn't believe it was really happening ...
