After taking big hit, Rob Gronkowski reportedly out for Patriots
There were conflicting reports on the seriousness of Rob Gronkowski’s injury throughout the week, with NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport saying he had suffered a punctured lung after taking a wallop from the Seahawks’ Earl Thomas on Sunday night but ESPN’s Adam Schefter reporting that it was just a chest injury and not so serious.
But it’s apparently serious enough for Gronkowski to miss the Patriots’ game Sunday against the 49ers in California.
“Gronkowski will not be able to make this trip, will not be able to make the long flight from the Providence airport all the way to San Francisco,” Rapoport said Friday on the NFL Network. “This really was the expectation when he first suffered the perforated lung.”
Gronkowski hasn’t practiced all week and was not present at the portion of Patriots practice that was open to reporters Friday morning.
