Report: Patriots not even planning to cheat to beat Texans
FOXBOROUGH, MASS The Patriots are talking a good game about not overlooking the Houston Texans in Saturdays divisional round matchup at Gillette Stadium, but team sources say New England does not even plan to use any of its cheating programs in the matchup against the heavy underdog.
Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and the №1 seed Patriots enter the game as 15.5-point favorites over Brock Osweiler and the Texans, who won the AFC South at 97 and then beat a Connor Cook-led Raiders team in their wildcard round matchup. Yet while Belichick usually likes to cheat against all playoff opponents and most regular season opponents, the longtime Patriots coach reportedly feels the Texans are so bad that his team can take care of them on the up-and-up.
I think coach believes we can beat them without doing anything illegal, considering we beat them 270 in Week 3 with a rookie, third-string QB who didnt know most of our cheating systems yet, said the source. But I also think coach suspects that the NFL is watching us especially close this year and its best we dont waste any of our good cheats before we need them in the AFC title game or the Super Bowl. Of course, if we fall behind 30 in the first quarter or something this week, all bets are off. We have all of their defensive signals and will give them to Tom if we need a comeback.
Texans head coach Bill OBrien said his team will use the Patriots not cheating against them as motivation.
Look, I coached with the Patriots for a few years and I know they cheat at everything and at every opportunity, he said. So for them to not think they have to cheat against us
well, its a real slap in the face. I think my players are going to come out very motivated to show the Patriots that they will have to cheat at least a little bit to beat us.
