Video: Adam Jones tells cop 'I hope you die'

Police have released the Bengals' Adam Jones expletive-filled statements to a police sergeant the night he was arrested after an incident at the Millennium Hotel.

In a 20-minute video that shows Jones in the back seat of a Cincinnati police vehicle, Jones repeatedly shouts expletives at Sgt. Jarrod Cotton, who is African-American.

At one point, Jones says: "You a b---- a-- n----r. I hope you die tomorrow."

Jones also repeatedly tells Cotton, "Suck my d---."

Jones, 33, was arrested the early morning of Jan. 3 after being accused of disorderly conduct and assaulting a security employee at the Downtown Millennium Hotel.

Attorneys from Fessler, Schneider & Grimme, LLP, issued the following statement:

"Adam Jones is deeply embarrassed and remorseful for his conduct and language after being arrested in early January. Mr. Jones has the utmost respect for law-enforcement and the difficulties police encounter on a daily basis. As it relates to the allegations, and upon advice of counsel, Mr. Jones will not be commenting upon legal proceedings at this time. Mr. Jones is committed to the process of counseling and anger management, in order to ensure that such situations never occur in the future. Adam loves Cincinnati and considers it home. He sincerely apologize to the officers, the Cincinnati Bengals organization and all the fans in Cincinnati."

I'm glad that I don't follow that team. I'm glad that I barely watch the NFL at all, actually.

Mike Brown will probably keep Jones on the team... so Jones can help them implode at another critical juncture in the future. Maybe he can even kill someone in the community eventually?

The next time the Brown family asks local taxpayers to pay for a stadium and the like, the citizens should encourage them to leave instead.

It's ultimately about money for them. It's their only source of income. It's not like they own a bunch of other businesses and their NFL team is more like a hobby.

They complained about lost money through expenses the last time they reached a Super Bowl, saying it was better to not make it that far from a business standpoint, instead getting a cut of the shared revenue from the event.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are better managed. They have better facilities, etc. Going to the Bengals would be a downgrade except for the pay.

Back in the late 80s. I was in high school and loved Boomer Esiason, Ickey Woods, Cris Collinsworth, Anthony Munoz, et al. They had a good team. I hated the 49ers but grew to appreciate Joe Montana for all he accomplished.

It felt like their players were more of a TEAM back in those days.

They haven't won a playoff game ever since Paul died in 1991.

I wonder how much his fortune is tied to his team - seems like when they were doing well he was pretty quiet.

not too long ago when they were a playoff team.

He's a "bargain" for Mike Brown because many owners don't want the headaches.

There's no telling what kind of brain trauma he's experienced from football.

Vontaze Burfict was another bargain... an undrafted free agent out of college because of his behavior, despite being considered an incredible athlete.

"Adam Jones is deeply embarrassed and remorseful for his conduct and language after being arrested...

It's always "after" for these spoiled and pampered athletes...placed on a pedestal for a physical ability and ignored when their mental midget immaturity comes out.

Until it's "after".

But no matter...he plays football really good.

Okay.

I wish we would stop using the n-word against each other in any context. It is a word born out of white hate and ignorance meant to be derogatory and demeaning. It's a hateful word. Hell, we are hearing it more and more these day being used by boy-potus supporters. We, all decent people, must make an effort to stop hating each other and ourselves in using this word....just my mini-rant that I have used for years now...doesn't do much good, but I stand by it and chide people in public when I hear it being used.
