Denver Broncos quarterback Brady Quinn said Tuesday that GQ magazine inaccurately portrayed him as being critical of Tim Tebow.
----
Quinn took to Twitter Tuesday afternoon to emphatically deny any bitterness toward Tebow or ill will toward the Broncos organization, arguing the magazine presented his statements out of context.
"The comments attributed to me in a recent magazine article are in NO WAY reflective of my opinion of Tim and the Broncos. Tim deserves a lot of credit for our success and I'm happy for him and what he accomplished. Most importantly, he is a great teammate," Quinn wrote.
"That interview was conducted three months ago, and the resulting story was a completely inaccurate portrayal of my comments. I have addressed my disappointment with the writer and have reached out to Tim to clear this up. I apologize to anyone who feels I was trying to take anything away from our team's or Tim's success this season."

Interesting. Looks like Quinn is in damage control.

(9,709 posts)anyway, Quinn is going to be an UFA in a couple weeks...he doesn't need some kind of bad teammate crap hanging over his head. I doubt if the Broncos have much use for him now...I know, he can go to NE and criticize Tom Brady, and then get yelled at by Gisele. That'll put him in his place..

(44,576 posts)Just that the reporter "misrepresented" his comments, and that he actually adores his team and teammate. "I said things about Tim Tebow that I'm sorry for" -- THAT'S an apology!

...in reference to a comeback victory over Chicago.Since he's not singling anyone out, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and presume he was talking about the team in general. Besides, he was absolutely right.
"...(T)hey decided to put Tim in. I felt like the fans had a lot to do with that. Just 'cause they were chanting his name. There was a big calling for him. No, I didn't have any billboards. That would have been nice."
Did he have any cheese and crackers with that whine?
On an earlier win at Kansas City in which Tebow completed only two passes, Quinn noted, "The entire game, the defensive line is chasing the quarterback around, and that wears down the pass rush. Meanwhile, the defensive backs are chasing receivers, but you only throw eight passes, so they start to feel lazy."
Once again, Quinn is right. But as he spells out what he sees a problem, there's no gray area as to what he sees as the solution -- better quarterbacking than what Tebow has offered.
"If you look at it as a whole, there's a lot of things that just don't seem very humble to me. When I get that opportunity, I'll continue to lead -- not necessarily by trying to get in front of the camera and praying, but by praying with my teammates, you know?"
Well, there's only one Denver Bronco who was praying on camera at the time, and he was the designated "leader" of the team!
And now Quinn is blabbering about "comments attributed to me (being) in no way reflective" and "a completely inaccurate portrayal"? If you didn't say what the article says you said, deny that you said it. If you did say it, admit it, and THEN re-interpret or apologize. If this is Quinn's idea of "leadership," it's no wonder he couldn't beat out Tebow, and I'd have no problem with the Broncos dumping him, too.
